Vincent Cable, MP, is teaming up with Macmillan Cancer Relief and people in Twickenham for the World's Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 26th September 2003 helping the charity set a new Guinness World Record for the largest simultaneous party.
The event, now in its 13th year, is set to raise over £3.5 million for people living with cancer. Around 1.5 million people organise coffee mornings and get involved each year. All money raised will go towards providing more services locally for cancer patients, like Macmillan nurses and cancer and information services.
Individuals, businesses, schools, or clubs can join in by hosting a Coffee Morning. It's easy to participate, just request a donation for every cup of coffee you serve.
Local MP Vincent Cable, who is organising his own coffee morning, said: "We probably all know someone who has been affected by cancer in some way. Each and every day 732 people are diagnosed with cancer. At the moment Macmillan Cancer Relief can only be there for 1 in 5 of them. You can
take part by registering your own coffee morning. For more details contact 0845 602 1246 or www.macmillan.org.uk/coffee."
