Fans and players at London club, Hampton and Richmond Borough FC were celebrating the New Year in style, thanks to a £15,720 award from the Football Stadium Improvement Fund, supporters of the Football Foundation.
Local MP Vincent Cable will present a ceremonial cheque on behalf of the FSIF prior to kick off against Lewes FC at 7.45pm on Tuesday 13 January at the club's Beveree Ground, Beaver Close, off Station Road, Hampton, TW12 2BX
The cash boost will allow the club to replace their pitch perimeter fencing at the Beveree Ground.
Over £64m has already been invested by the Football Stadium Improvement Fund, supporters of the Football Foundation, since its launch in July 2000, funding lower league ground improvements throughout professional and amateur game, creating a safe and modern environment for fans and players to enjoy the game.
"This is very good news for local soccer fans. Hampton and Richmond F.C. are not quite in the same league as England RFU or even the Harlequins but they have a loyal local following, especially in Hampton, and everyone connect with the club hopes that they will progress back through the leagues, after dropping out of the Ryman league. A few good seasons and they could be in the Conference: better facilities and ground improvements are one of the key requirements and this grant will help greatly".
