Victims of Crime Trust Appeal

March 16, 2005 12:00 AM

The Twickenham based Victims of Crime had a major launch at lunchtime today where hundreds of balloons were released. The launch was to publicise the Trust's new helpline for victims of crime.

Vincent Cable, who joined Sara Payne, Denise Bulger and over 50 relatives of murder victims, and the trusts founders Norman Brennan and Clive Elliott for the launch, said:

Norman Brennan (Director Victims Of Crime Trust), Vincent Cable MP and Clive Elliot (Opertations Director VOCT)"It is deeply sobering meeting people whose lives have been torn apart by the murder of a loved one. But they had a remarkable spirit, based on a shared determination to ensure that victims of crime are properly supported. At present the government is cutting back on badly needed victims support funding and the criminal injuries compensation scheme is hopelessly inefficient". "Victims of Crime Trust is an excellent organisation that gives support and hope to the families of victims of terrible crimes".
