MP Vincent Cable goes 'back to school' at Trafalgar Infants School on Thursday morning, attending class and assembly with the children. The event is part of a campaign to highlight the plight of hundreds of millions of children across the world who do not go to school because none is available or because their parents cannot afford the fees. Schools across the country will be encouraging pupils to think about why school is necessary.
Vincent Cable said: "Last year, at a similar event at Trafalgar, there was a really lively less on with the children who produced some excellent art and some very penetrating questions. Since we live in a society where schooling is universal and compulsory and has been for generations, it is useful for children to reflect on what difference it makes and what life is like for those in poorer countries for whom there is no school."
