The controlled explosion, leading to the demolition of the RFU's south stand "went like clockwork" said Vincent Cable, MP, who went with other residents, to view the event as a spectator. Vincent Cable praised the RFU for "smooth organisation and good community relations".
"I had some worried letters and petitions from residents but, in the event, almost everyone was reassured about dust, damage and other worries and those who were evacuated seemed to have enjoyed a day out at the stadium".
