Vincent Cable MP launches a new All Party Group - for victims of crime - on Tuesday in Parliament. The Group will focus on issues such as criminal injuries compensation and weaknesses in the support system for victims of crime and Vincent Cable envisages close collaboration with the Twickenham-based Victims of Crime Trust, the national campaigning group, and Victim Support.

Vincent Cable said: "Although crime is close to the top of most politicians' agendas and although crime is endlessly reported in the media, the actual victims of crime tend to be forgotten. I have had constituents coming to me, still traumatised by events months or years ago, who are struggling to get answers to letters from the dreadfully inefficient Criminal Injuries Compensation office in Glasgow or who have been largely forgotten about by the services who gave them plenty of attention when the crime concerned was in the news. This borough fortunately has a very effective Victim Support team and the campaigning energy of the Victims of Crime Trust and I hope we can lead the national debate."
