A drop-in centre for local childminders was launched this week in the Edgar Road Community Centre. Vincent Cable MP and Mayor Bill Treble were at the launch.
The Centre was set up by Richmond Childminding Group with funding from the Thames Community Foundation, in the Richmond Housing Partnership development at Edgar Road. It provides a weekly centre for the Borough's approximately 300 childminders to bring children to a safe and friendly environment.
Vincent Cable said that he "was struck by the very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. There were 20 or so toddlers, all of whom seemed completely at home. This is a really good initiative to help a large group of children and their working parents who rely on childminders."
