Local Pensioners £12,000 Power Bill

March 12, 2007 3:24 PM

Vincent Cable, MP, has taken up with Chief Executive of Powergen and the consumer protection body (Energy Watch) an appalling case of a local pensioner couple who were charged £12,000 when they tried to change electricity supplier. Both Mr and Mrs Mugan are over 80 and were seriously alarmed when they received the bill.

Vincent Cable said: "this is utter incompetence. I cannot believe that Powergen are deliberately trying to terrify this elderly couple. I imagine someone has got a couple of decimal places wrong. The very lease we can expect is a prompt apology and withdrawal of the notice".
