Following the introduction of the new Clean Neighbourhoods and Environmental Act 2005 on February 26th, the council has already adopted dog control orders and will commence dog fouling operations in the next few months. There are fixed penalties (£80) for dog owners who fail to remove deposits.
Vincent Cable, MP, who recently received a large petition from residents in the Windmill Road area of Hampton Hill said: "the powers are long overdue. In Windmill Road, one resident, whose identity is known, has allowed his dog to foul pavements for years with impunity, despite the hygiene issues created for the local primary school and local parents. Evidence will be built up in future against anti social dog owners and, hopefully, there will be an improvement."
