There has been a massive reaction to the attempt by Heathrow's owner, BAA, to suppress a mass demonstration by protesters against increase flights starting on 14th August.
The popular local protest group, HACAN, is one of the organisations affected by the court injunction along with the Royal Society for the Protection of the Birds and the Council for the Protection of Rural England.
Vincent Cable MP said that "this is an appalling infringement of civil liberties and the right to peaceful protest. It will merely increase local peoples' resentment that environmental concerns and worries over aircraft noise are being swept aside in a completely undemocratic manner by this arrogant, socially irresponsible company."
He said he had "every intention of supporting HACAN and the environmental groups in their protest, starting 14th August."
