Twickenham Liberal Democrats unanimously agreed at a special meeting at Twickenham Green Cricket Pavilion to readopt Vincent Cable MP as their candidate for the next General Election.
Vincent Cable was first adopted in 1989 for the 1992 General Election; won in 1997 and has won the two subsequent elections in 2001 and 2005. He is now his Party's Deputy Leader and Shadow Chancellor.
Vincent Cable said: "I am delighted to have the support of the local party for me to stand for another term in Parliament. I have lots of energy and stamina and there are a lot of national and local issues I want to get stuck into."
Vincent Cable warned his supporters that they could be pitched into an early election "through the combination of a Foot and Mouth epidemic and a run on the banks isn't the best background for an election.
"Since I start with a majority of almost 10,000 over the Conservatives I have every reason to be confident; but I take nothing for granted and intend to fight the next election as hard as I have previous elections."
