On Saturday the White House Community Association of Hampton and Hampton Hill celebrated three decades with an Open House, opened by Vincent Cable MP.
The White House was built in 1994 but the Association predates it by a couple of decades. Today it hosts male and female barber shop groups, a Big Bank, ballroom dancing, badminton, bowls, bridge, embroidery and art groups and is the main venue for community meetings and social events in the Hampton area.
Vincent Cable said: "The White House has played a massively important role in creating a sense of community in the Hamptons. It does so with minimal help for the Council and on the basis of its members and with a lot of voluntary help. It deserves to be far better known and used."
