Welcome for Guilty Murder Verdict

February 25, 2008 5:39 PM

Following the guilty verdicts on Levi Bellfield for the murder of Amelie Delagrange and Marsha McDonnell and the attempted murder of Kate Sheedy.

MP Vincent Cable, who was MP when the murders and murder investigations took place, welcomed the verdicts and said: "This utterly evil man has finally been nailed. His crimes were shocking and there may have been others, still to be proved. At the time of the murders of Marsha and Amelie there was a palpable sense of fear amongst young women in the Twickenham area that they were very vulnerable. Nothing can bring back the victims but at least their families now know that the murderer has finally been brought to justice. I trust that the sentence will reflect the horrific nature of his crimes and that he will not emerge from prison again".
