Power Cuts Alarm Residents

April 1, 2008 2:12 PM

A cluster of 80 to 100 residents in St Margarets (Beaconsfield Road) have suffered repeated, prolonged, power cuts - some lasting for 16 hours.

Elderly residents and parents with young children have been alarmed by the frequency and extent of the loss of electric power.

Vincent Cable, MP, has written to the M. de Rivaz, Chief Executive of Electricite de France (EDF), the supplier, demanding action: "residents have the impression that the supplier isn't taking the problem seriously. There are apologies; then there is no action. There seems to be some problem at the local sub station but no one in authority can confirm this or commit to any permanent solution. This isn't good enough".
