Hampton Club for Special Needs Children Saved from Financial Crisis

June 2, 2008 11:36 AM

A few months ago the Hampton Saturday Club - providing respite to the families of children with special needs - was threatened with closure.

The club has however received offers of support from children's and extended schools funding arrangements and will be able to continue. The Hampton Club helps 30 families by looking after the children and by organising recreational activities for them; Brentford FC organises football training for example.

Vincent Cable, MP, who visited the Club recently and campaigned to support the fund raising efforts, said he was "absolutely delighted that this invaluable project has survived. But there is a longer term challenge to ensure that it doesn't continue to struggle along with a hand-to-mouth existence."
