Local MP Named Opposition Politician of the Year

June 23, 2008 11:30 AM

In a ballot of MP's announced last week, Vincent Cable MP was voted Opposition Politician of the Year, defeating Conservatives George Osborne and Michael Gove.

The annual award, organised by the House Magazine, was announced by the BBC's Nick Robinson at Millbank along with others (which included Lord Winstone as Peer of the Year and the Dalai Lama as Statesman of the Year)

Vincent Cable said: "this is a very considerable honour not least because it was a competitive field and we are judged by fellow MP's from other parties. I was nominated for a comparable award two years ago but it is great to have actually won this time."
