Vincent Cable, MP, has asked Richmond police to investigate reports that a gang of teenage vandals are targeting disabled vehicles on the Edgar Road estate.
He raised the issue at last week's Police and Community Partnership meeting after a disabled resident and another member of the group (Carole Edwards ) confirmed that other disabled people had suffered damage to their mobility vehicles.
Vincent Cable said: "A resident came to me in great distress since his mobility car had been vandalised and he now has to park a long way from the estate despite having severe breathing difficulties. I gather from the meeting that the mobility vehicle of a mother with a disabled child was also singled out by the vandals. This really is despicable behaviour and I hope the police will find the perpetrators quickly so that the people involved can be severely dealt with".
