Residents of a local block of flats, Milton Court, next to Strawberry Hill Golf Course, have asked for help from Vincent Cable, MP, after enduring a sustained bombardment of golf balls.
One elderly couple found 50 balls last year outside their home and have had a window smashed once a year over the last five years. The golf club pays for repairs but residents have asked for more protection.
Vincent Cable has written to the golf club and Richmond Housing Partnership who own the flats suggesting that they pay 50:50 for a chain link fence: "this is one of those local issues which, with a little bit of consideration could quickly resolve. There have been similar problems with cricket balls on Moormead in St Margarets and elsewhere. The obvious solution is a fence and if both sides in the dispute pay their share I don't see why this can't be done".
