Now, Bushy Park has Parking Charges

February 4, 2009 1:18 PM

The Royal Parks have now published their consultation document on new regulations affecting parking and traffic.

The main controversial proposal affecting Bushy Park is the introduction of charges at roughly half the rate of Richmond Park, i.e. 50p for an hour, £1 for 2 hours and £2 for over three hours.

MP Vincent Cable said; "I expect that these charges will be pretty unpopular especially with families with young children, and elderly people who will find it difficult to get to the park except by car. But I will try to gauge the strength of feeling amongst residents before responding formally to the Royal Parks. I am somewhat relived that the charges are much more moderate than in Richmond Park which is therefore less likely to deter visitors and displace traffic onto nearby roads".

"There are also some new rules which will I am sure be broadly welcomed like a 20mph limit to protect children and park deer".
