'80% Cut in Odour' claimed by Mogden Boss

April 27, 2009 5:40 PM

At a recent meeting with MP Vincent Cable Thames Water Director, Richard Aylard, said that odour problems from Mogden had been cut by 80% following the extensive investments which have been made at the plant. He also stated categorically that the proposed extension to the works, recently approved by Hounslow council, would not increase odour and was designed to deal with another environmental problem: the emission of raw sewage into the Thames.

Vincent Cable said: "residents have expressed serious concern to me that, despite undoubted improvements recently in the odour situation, there have been several bad days - which he explained as due to faulty equipment".

"I think it is broadly true that the Mogden project is environmentally enhancing rather than threatening but Thames Water has lost so much trust over the years by foot dragging over the odour problem that residents believe the worst about them".
