Since 1997 I have represented the residents of Twickenham, Whitton, St Margarets, Strawberry Hill, Teddington and the Hamptons in Parliament, no matter which political party they supported.

Advice surgeries

I hold advice surgeries for local residents every week on a Friday. They take place in my constituency office at 2a Lion Road, Twickenham from 5-7pm. If you wish to see me at my surgery, you need to contact my office to arrange an appointment. I will be unable to see anyone who arrives at my offices without a prior appointment. Appointments can be made by telephoning 020 8892 0215.

Please note: surgery on 15th March will be in the morning and there will be no surgery on 29th March; there will be a surgery on Thursday 11th April rather than 12th April.

    On Friday local MP Vince Cable, met with four students from Newland House School, Twickenham to launch their campaign which will help motorists save fuel and help cut carbon emissions. Sainsbury's have given the green light to trial their campaign at their St. Clare's store which involves customer awareness at petrol stations to get motorists to check their tyre pressure.

    Empowering Youth in conjunction with Orleans House presented an exhibition of artwork last weekend for the Richmond Literature Festival. Opened by Local MP Vince Cable, works of art by students from TwickenhamAcademy were displayed under the title 'The Power of Imagination'

    The project showed the thoughts, feelings and emotions of students, captured in expressive abstract art, in which they were encouraged to be experiment with techniques such as marbling, painting and scratching. Wood artist Derek Pearce created beautiful hand-carved panels with quotes from great world thinkers to accompany the work, which helped inspire the student's creativity.

    On Friday 26th October, Dr Cable, MP for Twickenham and Patron of Age UK Richmond, talked to members, volunteers and staff about how the Wellbeing Centre has helped to improve their lives and how Age UK Richmond's new 'Spread the Warmth' winter campaign will help many older people over the coming months stay safe and warm in their homes. He recently launched a new phone App, Trustmark, which helps people find reputable local tradesmen when hiring contractors to improve their homes.

    Vince Cable, MP for Twickenham, officially opened the new Whitton Corner Centre for Health and Social Care today in front of a number of high profile guests including the former Mayor of Richmond, Mr Robin Jowit and Dr Andrew Smith - Chair of Richmond Clinical Commissioning Group.

    Whitton Corner provides a wide range of health and social care services including two GP Practices, an NHS dentist, mental health/psychological therapy services, physiotherapy, podiatry, health visiting and baby clinics, as well as adult social care services, among others. The inclusion of Health and Social services makes Whitton Corner a hub of services for the local population.

    On Friday 26th October Vince Cable, MP for Twickenham, was joined by Rachel Dickson, Honorary President of Richmond Furniture Scheme, and Charles Baroudi, President of Twickenham-Upon-Thames Rotary Club, to launch the new facilities for the charity Richmond Furniture Scheme.

    Richmond Furniture Scheme is an incredible charity that recycles donated furniture before selling it on to the public. For those on benefits or in difficulty the furniture is sold at a reduced cost helping those that would not usually be able to afford it, with many other charities helping individuals with these costs too.

    Vince Cable, MP for Twickenham met with local pupils at the Teddington Tesco Metro on Friday to share in the success of this year's Vouchers for Schools and Clubs scheme.

    The nationwide scheme, this year celebrating its 21st anniversary, enables UK schools and clubs to redeem vouchers from Tesco purchases for all sorts of amazing products from iMacs to drum kits and garden tools to tennis rackets.

    In an interview with the Evening Standard yesterday Dr. Cable also spoke about the recent achievements in government including the announcedIndustrial strategy and the Lib Dems firm stance against Heathrow expansion.

    On Friday 14th September the Tax Justice Bus stopped off at Teddington on day 22 of its 53-day tour of the UK and Ireland, as it highlights how global tax dodging is hurting the poor in the UK and beyond.

    Local residents welcomed Christian Aid and Church Action on Poverty's red double-decker as it stopped at Teddington Methodist Church for afternoon tea and learnt how they can make a difference in the fight for tax justice. Vince Cable, MP for Twickenham, also met with supporters and got on board the bus.

    An expansion of Heathrow Airport is "not going to happen", Vince Cable MP for Twickenham said yesterday.

    Many residents of Twickenham and the surrounding area have already raised fears over the increased noise and pollution that a new runway or increased night flights would bring to the area.

    Speaking on Andrew Marr's show on BBC One Dr Cable said "This is not a parochial little problem for south-west London. There are potentially two million people affected by this.

    Vince Cable MP joined the national charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) at a high profile parliamentary reception last night as it raised the debate about the importance of screening young athletes at 'grass roots' level.

    A number of young Olympic hopefuls also attended in order to highlight the importance of offering promising young athletes specialist cardiac screening at the outset of their training careers.
