New Funding for Grass Roots Groups

4.01.14pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 14th Oct 2008

Small local community groups can now apply for up to £5000 in "grass roots grants" under a new programme announced by the Thames Community Foundation.

The grants can be used for any good purpose and will be especially useful for local music, arts and drama groups, sports clubs, pre- and after school clubs, scouts and guides and residents' interest associations.

Vincent Cable MP said that he had "numerous bodies asking about small scale funding of this kind which does not involved long complicated form filling and procedures. The Thames Foundation has asked me to publicise their initiative which is a great idea and very useful. Applicants should apply to the Foundation (grantstct@btconnect.com) or if they approach me I can redirect their enquiries to the Foundation."
